It is most beautifully situated-- looking across the lake to a splendid ridge of hills, the highest of which is called Coniston Old Man, and is about 4th highest of the English mountains. Miss Martineau in her guide to the Lakes speaks of this view as the finest bit of mountain scenery in the district."
