Evidence: "By the way I gave St Catherine's burial to Mr S[mith]. He admired it so much. I find from Mrs Jameson's legends of the Apostles & Saints that the picture is by Mücke. I thought that it had been by Shaffer. She is said to have been carried by angels to Mount Sinai & there deposited in a stone sarcophagus over which a chapel has been erected by the monks of the wilderness. I do not think that Papa has this part of Mrs Jameson's Legendary Series (I do not remember what the name of the book is). It is however very interesting both as regards the life of the Saints & the pictorial treatment of the principal events in their lives."
Frequency Mentioned: Twice; 1:94 (31) "I have employed myself today with Mrs Jameson's Legends of the Angels Apostles & Saints. They are so interesting & contain such nice little criticisms & remarks on all the well remembered pictures of the old Masters."
